COFFEE & CONVERSATION: JACKIE BATTENFIELD & JULIA BLOOM - FEB. 25, 11AM

Please join us at Addison/Ripley for the next in our ongoing series of artist conversations in the gallery, on Saturday, February 25th from 11 to 1.  Enjoy coffee, bagels and a guided, open ended discussion featuring the artists in Branched, Jackie Battenfield and Julia Bloom. Both artists are long time Addison/Ripley artists and their approaches to their work, while dissimilar stylistically, have been curated to suggest a common aesthetic.  Both artists find inspiration in the close observation of nature and produce compelling works closely tied to flora and its cycles. The installation of their work here is presented as a dialogue and a means to delve more deeply into each artist's work.

Julia Bloom is a well recognized Washington artist whose most recent and ambitious public work was a large installation at the Takoma Park Community Center. Jackie Battenfield lives and works in Brooklyn, New York and, besides holding many awards including the Pollack/Krasner Award, is the author of The Artist's Guide: How to Make a Living Doing What You Love.
